There is no greater joy than seeing your dog happy and there is no better way to do that than to treat your dog. In the second blog of our #addmorehappy series, we offer tips on the best way to treat your dog and there is more to it than simply offering dog treats.

When people talk about giving dogs a treat, the mind automatically associates this with traditional dog treats that are given as a reward for a correctly performed trick or a good show of obedience. In this article, we look at the other ways to treat your dog and ‘add more happy’ to their lives.

Groom your dog

Believe it or not, dogs love to be pampered just as much as their humans and this is a fantastic way to treat your canine companion. Freshening up their appearance not only leaves them looking healthy, but your dog will also benefit from the time you spend with them as you brush their fur. Dogs love affection at the end of the day so any additional hugs and belly rubs are bound to go down like a good treat.

Get fit together

Pics of dogs exercising with their owners are becoming increasingly popular on social media and let’s face it, there has never been a picture of a dog looking sad while they are doing it. This investment in each other’s health once again increases the bonding time you spend with your dog and not only that, dogs are never happier than when they are exercising. Whether you take them for your daily run or you set up a mini obstacle course, your dog is bound to love it.

A comfortable night’s sleep

Treating dogs does not just have to be about edible goodness. Ensuring your dog has a comfortable place to sleep can make a big difference to your dog’s mood and is another fantastic way to treat your dog. Dog’s love home comforts so investing in comfy blankets and a good quality dog bed is a great way to show them how much you care. For an additional treat, you can also let them come for a cuddle in your room from time to time.

Help your dog make friends

Allowing our dog to socialise with other dogs is another great way to treat your dog and bring some added joy to their lives. Spending time around other dog owners and letting your dog interact with other dogs is a great way for them to learn how to be friendly around others. Dogs love the company of other dogs and this can match the joy they feel when they get traditional dog treats.

Don’t forget the dog treats

Although we are looking at the various ways you can treat your dogs, it would be remiss for us not to include investing in some delicious dog treats to reward your dog for good behaviour.  One way to show your dog just how much you care on a daily basis is by making sure they receive delicious meals each day accompanied with fresh water to keep them hydrated.  Applaws Taste Toppers can help to deliver that daily dose of goodness that every dog needs and deserves.
